IT Course Structure

The Advanced Diploma of IT features two specialisations:

  • Cyber Security
  • Telecommunications Network Engineering

Both course streams are structured to reflect the real-world requirements and responsibilities that you will find in information and communication technology roles across a range of industries.

The course will arm you with valuable and practical technical skills including programming, cyber security, cloud computing and business analysis. Besides the technical skills, you will learn a range of business and people management skills that are vital for managing tech teams and leading complex projects. The Advanced Diploma will prepare you to carry out complex IT tasks within your specialist field and use your expertise to drive projects and direct business strategy.

Course packaging consists of 16 units (6 core units and 10 elective units).

Core units include

  • Apply critical thinking for complex problem solving

  • Promote workplace cyber security awareness and best practices
  • Interact with clients on a business level
  • Manage IP, ethics and privacy in ICT environments
  • Plan and monitor business analysis activities in an ICT environment

General elective units include

  • Manage network security
  • Build advanced user interfaces
  • Implement security for applications
  • Design, build and test network servers

Each specialisation also includes a range of electives you can choose for a course structure tailored to your chosen field or profession.
